On the wartime and peacetime activities of the U.S. Signal Corps. Reel 1 shows Gen. MacArthur aboard the battleship Missouri during the Japanese surrender ceremonies in 1945. Signal Corps recruits train at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey, and study communication equipment. Signal Corps men disembark on a beach from landing barges, set up and operate a field radio, transmit range observations to artillerymen via radio, send blinker signals from a warship offshore, lay field telephone wire by plane and truck, and erect telegraph and telephone poles. The Chief Signal Officer poses at his desk. Includes views of a field message center and the Pentagon signal center. Reel 2, Signal Corps cameramen photograph an amphibious landing, street fighting, and Bob Hope entertaining troops at a USO show. Signal equipment is tested. Planes navigate with radar in bad weather. Instruments dropped by parachute transmit meteorological information. Part 3, paratroopers board a plane, the plane takes off, and a paratrooper jumps and sets up a radio beacon to guide planes to a landing. Artillery, shells and rockets equipped with VT fuses are fired. A diagram shows how the VT fuse operates. Guided flying bombs are fired against Japanese targets in Burma. A U.S. robot bomb is test fired. Shows an atomic bomb explosion.
